New federal safety regulations (DoL/OSHA) will require all businesses with more than 100 employees to require vaccinations or require weekly testing for unvaccinated workers. OSHA is expected to issue an emergency temporary standard shortly. This regulation will immediately affect over 80 million workers.
If enacted into law, vax enforcement could bankrupt non-compliant companies even more quickly than the $14,000 OSHA fine anticipated under Biden’s announced mandate. The increased fines on employers could run as high as $70,000 for serious infractions, and $700,000 for willful or repeated violations—almost three-quarters of a million dollars for each fine. Federal government contractors with contracts over $250,000 need to fully vaccinated by December 8, 2021.
